Bloomington, INopenParks & Rec BuildingsHow does Bloomington determine the appropriate lifeguard-patron ratio for the city's public pools? How often is a responsible staff member actively evaluating safety needs during the course of the pool hours?  (Seeking an actual response, as I notice that recent U-reports asking this question have been closed despite zero answers.) On August 10-11, there was an alarming disconnect between lifeguards and actual use of the facility. Despite a hot, sunny weekend with dozens of patrons in and around the main pool (including plenty of small children), there was only a single lifeguard on duty sitting on the ground level staff bench for the **entire main pool**.  At least on Aug 17-18, the west end of the main pool was closed, reducing by half the active scan area for the single on duty lifeguard. It would be terrible to have a safety emergency at the city pools worsened by underestimating the need for lifeguards on duty.about 1 year ago
Bloomington, INopenParks & PlaygroundsCourts frequently full from people outside the neighborhood. Particularly paid coaches giving lessons. If someone wants to make money let them do it in a private court before taking all of the neighborhood courts for hours from local residents. Please change the policy. If already a policy please post it.about 1 year ago

Bloomington, INopenExcessive GrowthAt 731 S Parkway Dr the yard is extremely unkept. Grass not mowed, weeds are high, shrubs so overgrown you can’t see front door, they are as tall as the house, up to the gutters. Back yard is overgrown also. Neighbors are concerned. You can see a kiddie pool surrounded by weeds. The driveway has junk cars with flat tires and a dumpster is permanently in the driveway. If the inside is as bad as the outside it is unfit to live in especially for children. Please do something. Neighbors know this has been reported for years and nothing changes. I would think the school bus driver would report it. Summer time people take walks and everyone sees this run down property. Pest control services in the area told us they wouldn’t go back to the house it was so bad inside from his view from the front door. The mailman has to see it. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!about 1 year ago
Bloomington, INopenOtherThere is a weed issue all along the bypass, down past the mall, and Sare Road. This includes the business areas downtown. From the sides of roads, sidewalks, and medians, weeds are growing strong and do not appear to be maintained. This has not been an issue in the past and does not meet my expectation for city upkeep as a two decade resident and taxpayer. Please work on this and keep Bloomington beautiful!about 1 year ago
