Last week, we inadvertently placed our trash cans at the curb after the required 5:00 a.m. deadline, but they were out at least 10 minutes before the sanitation truck arrived. Despite the cans being ready for collection, the crew skipped them, seemingly because they had seen us putting them out late. I understand the city has rules, but refusing to collect trash that was already at the curb well before the truck arrived seems unnecessarily punitive and unreasonable, especially when collecting it would not have caused any delay. I would appreciate this incident being reviewed to prevent this from happening in the future. |

Bland's towing was preparing to have my vehicle towed when my child upon the scene. My child offered to simply move the vehicle and the towing representatives said that if my child paid them $50 then the car would not be towed and my child could drive it away. The vehicle was NOT already attached to the tow truck. This is a clear violation of the towing ordinance since the car wasn't attached to the tow truck. My child prepared to pay the money and then take the car, but when my name was given as vehicle owner the tow rep recognized it as someone who knew that this would be in violation of city code and so they told my kid to just take the car. If my name had not been recognized in this situation, then the company would have fleeced someone out of $50. It is impossible to know how often this happens, but tow companies need to follow the tow ordinance and residents, especially students, need to be educated about local tow and parking policies. My kid didn't know what the law said, but as soon as I heard this story I knew that there would have been a violation since the car was not connected to the tow truck when my child came upon the scene. |
