Potholes, Other Street Repair |
open |
I was driving on Washington Street downtown on October 27. I rounded the block twice so I hit this horrible pothole that I believe did something to my steering mechanism. I was down there quite a bit so it could’ve been Grant Street. I went back to Washington today to take a picture and the only place I saw it looked like there was a patch done there. Can you tell me if that patch has been in the last day or two since it broke my car on Wednesday? I need a picture to file a complaint to the city about my car damage. |

Raccoons in attic. Management called local firm to trap one, but no one has attended to the opening that allowed the raccoon in the building, so now there is another. Please force the management to repair the building. We do not want any more raccoons up there and we do not want any more trapped. |

Fire Hazards |
open |
Requesting an immediate safety and egress inspection by the Fire Prevention Bureau for the residential structure at 530 S Washington St.
Primary safety violations visible from the public right-of-way:
Complete Egress & Primary Exit Obstruction
The front entrance, porch, and primary walkway are physically obstructed floor-to-ceiling by severe accumulation of discarded materials. Occupants have no usable primary escape route in an emergency, violating clear-pathway egress standards (International Fire Code Section 1031).
Extreme Combustible Fuel Load & Radiant Heat Exposure Risk
The exterior and interior exhibit an unusually high density of combustible materials (paper, wood, plastics, and dense trash). Because this structure sits within 5 feet of an adjacent occupied home, this extreme fuel load creates a severe radiant heat exposure risk, accelerating potential fire spread and flashover to nearby structures.
First Responder Trap Hazard
Blocked doorways, obstructed windows, and heavy fuel loading present an immediate trap hazard for occupants and severely compromise rapid entry and search-and-rescue operations for responding firefighters.
Requested Action: Conduct an exterior safety inspection under Indiana Code § 36-8-17 (Fire Prevention) and Indiana Code § 36-7-9 (Unsafe Building Law), and issue an official order to abate the egress and fuel-load hazards. |

Every morning I see several freshly killed animals in the stretch of Arlington Road between 17th Street and Prow Road. This is a major corridor for traffic to and from BHSN, especially during early dawn hours when many species are most actively foraging and attempting to cross the road. It’s heartbreaking to see all these critters getting creamed just for trying to start their day. I know only part of this road is currently within the city boundaries, but is there any reason that section doesn’t have a school speed limit? I don’t live on the road itself so I can’t apply for TCGP. |
